Two New Projects…

Two new writing projects in the works:

First, I’m thrilled to announce that Insurgent Encounters: Transnational Activism, Ethnography, and the Political, a collaborative volume I’ve co-edited with Jeffrey Juris, will be published in the not-too-distant future by Duke University Press. The volume brings together a diverse and critically engaged group of scholar-activists (or activist-scholars) who reflect on questions relating to contemporary social justice struggles, knowledge production, political possibility, and the relationship between ethnography – and knowledge work more broadly – and the political. Stay tuned for updates as the book heads into production.

Second, I’m equally thrilled to announce that Fernwood Publishing has agreed to publish a collective volume currently in progress by Anthropologists for Justice and Peace. Entitled Paths Out of Empire: Anthropologies of Resistance and Prefiguration, the volume brings together anthropologists working in the Canadian context to critically consider the ways anthropology can serve to confront systems of power, violence, and inequality and how it can contribute to struggles for radical social change.
