Breach of court orders and the revolving door of criminal justice

For the last two years I’ve been the principal investigator on a community-engaged research project about breach of court orders, criminalized women, and the criminal justice system in Nova Scotia. The project, funded by a SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant, was conducted in collaboration with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia. The research team used qualitative research to explore the causes and consequences of women breaching their court orders. Our goal was to provide critical, evidence-based analysis to inform E Fry’s programming and criminal justice reform. See the team’s report here.
