On October 17, 2020 I presented “Nazi-Making Machines: Digital Infrastructure and the New Fascism” at the “Why the World Needs Anthropologists” symposium organized by the Applied Anthropology Network of the European Association of Social Anthropologists. This invited presentation was part of the “Mobilizing Online: Social Movements & Digital Activism Today” roundtable also featuring John Postill, Lü Pin, Stefania Milan, and Emiliano Treré, and moderated by Mina Baginova. The roundtable featured speakers working on/with social movements, activism, and digital mobilizing, and explored the potentials and frictions of digital activism in today’s crises.
